Alan has been involved in the purchase or sale of more than 350 dealerships with a value of over $5.1 billion, excluding inventories. His background includes serving as the Senior Vice President of Corporate Development at AutoNation, Inc. While there, he served on their Executive Committee, wrote the original business plan for AutoNation’s new car division, and led dealership acquisitions.
Alan is the creator of The Haig Report, the leading industry quarterly report that tracks trends in auto retail and how they impact dealership values, and co-author of NADA’s guide, Buying and Selling a Dealership. In addition, Alan is a frequent speaker at auto retail conferences and is often quoted in the media. Alan has an MBA from Columbia Business School, an MA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a BA from Dartmouth College.
